The Monument to the Laçador, located at one of the entrances to the city of Porto Alegre, is the representation of the gaucho pilchado. Through a municipal law of 1992, the Monument was defined as the Official Symbol of Porto Alegre.

The statue was authored by the Pelotas sculptor Antônio Caringi and was listed as a Historic Heritage Site in 2001.
